Er...what should we wear at revisits?

Grr..I'm so frustrated because I have no clue what to wear!! Part of me says a nice shirt with a pair of jeans but then I'm like WAIT NOOOO!!! PEOPLE WILL DRESS UP! And then the other part of me goes, "So why not wear a nice dress?" And then the other side goes NOOOO!!! PEOPLE WILL STARE AT MY OVERDRESSINESS!!! sooo...what do the majority wear at revisits? -_-' oh zhe cruel shallownessessity of it alll...

Find out what sort of dress code the school has and then dress accordingly.
If most of the girls wear slacks, jeans etc, then wear that. If most wear dressier clothes then do that

Ugh but the problem is, I have no clue what other people will likely dress up classy or casual...I really don't want to stick out..At revisits are you forced to walk a lot? And is there still snow btw at Exeter?

My asheville thing says "Exam dress"
Boys: Polo or collard shirt, kackis or dress slacks
Girls: comparable attire

Snow is pretty much melted except in extreme northern new england
It was 65 degrees in the Boston area today---Exeter is only about 40 minutes north---I don' t think there will be snow

Why not call the admissions offices and see what they recommend in terms of attire?

Seacoast area of NH today was high 50's and rainy. Still areas of snow, particularly in shaded and wooded areas. I know the Exeter soccer fields remained snow-covered last weekend. I live 1 hour west of Exeter and my yard still has at least 2 feet of snow. Some very high snowbanks remain as well. I would imagine all of the walkways are clear; there could be puddles/muddy areas. Snow should continue to melt this week as we are scheduled for low 40's tomorrow and mid 50's Thursday.....still 20's at night, though.

I'm going to a revisit at NMH this Friday and am going to wear jeans, a hooded sweater, and a polo shirt. That's what others have told me people wear at NMH revisits, and I think it really depends on the school.

Boys: Polo or collard shirt, kackis or dress slacks

Should your collard shirt be green? Y'all must be from down south.

Haha the funny thing is, Asheville is isn't it?

I'm wearing a sweater set and slacks to one, a button down with a blazer and white courderoys (how DO you spell that?) to another.

It is supposed to sleet or rain/snow mix in Exeter on Friday. My S is wearing a button down, sweater, khakis, boots (no sneakers - huge puddles) and a gore-tex raincoat. Welcome to a NE spring!

You'll want to fit in with the students. Wear what they are wearing. You're already accepted, no need to dress up.

I'm wearing a sweater set and slacks to one, a button down with a blazer and white courderoys (how DO you spell that?) to another

Corduroy is easy to spell if you remember its origin and know French. Cord du roi translates roughly to 'cloth of the king'.

Now you can educate me. What is a "sweater set"?

Ohh thank you :) That helps so much-I'll have to tell my French teacher.

A button down (or pull-over) knit sweater with a shirt underneath. Something like this: Google Image Result for http://www.timeout.com/newyork/resizeImage/htdocs/export_images/623/623.x600.comedy.rev.jpg

Sorry, it won't let me pull up the picture by itself thanks to Greasemonkey.

still snow at exeter. most kids wear jeans, but the safe choice is kakis. tie for guys is required. collored shirt/sweater for girls. (at exeter)

lol Laxtaxi, I must have been hungry.

abd yep, i'm a Southern Bell, and proud of it!

Dazz, don't feel too badly. Artsmart went 0-2 in sartorial spelling. Khaki, not kaki; collared, not collored. You can "collor" me old school when it comes to spelling and grammar.

i remember you! you're the on who questioned why you got into exeter..

for the revisit day (i'm not going which sucks =[ bc i live too far away) just follow the dress code that girls wear (my
info is gathered through many many hours researching the dress code..emailing many different people, reading and rereading italicsthe portion on the exeter website telling you what you can wear for the revist daysitalics end, and taking a whole saturday afternoon separating my wardrobe into what we can wear at exeter on a day to class or weekends:
no tops with words on them
jeans are accepted
polos are cute&simple
hemmed shorts <-- that is copied from the site..i have no idea what they are i even googled them.
short skirts cute..but make sure they pass the fingertip rule
dresses...umm may be too over dressing..but if you can pull it off to look casual and springtimey then sweet

ughh i really wish i could go now..im all fired up on my clothes. heres an outift i thought of that i would wear if i was gonna go. i would look sophisticated but not too formal. denim skirt (not the knee length/to your ankle ones oh god) or shorts (possibly bermuda shorts, the formal looking ones from zara/mng or somewhere..hmm those could be hemmed shorts!) with a tank/cami (not brightly colored..tan, creamy, forest green, pale pink you get the point) and a springtime cardigan over it. then a dull (black white brown) colored ribbon in the hair that should match the cardigan.
very adorable! =)
there you go an outfit..now go away and shop, the best part

Although the calendar says it's Spring, it really isn't in New England - at least not in northen MA and NH. I wouldn't recommend shorts unless you are a really hardy native New Englander! Daytime highs have been in the 40s lately with nighttime temps in the 30s. Looks like there may be a little snow on Friday.
You will see current students sporting flip flops though - not that I would recommend that! ;)

hemmed shorts = shorts w/a hem, like, not cut offs :)
