Hello, I was really hoping to get a little advice on my situation. First here’s a little backround information, I am senior in highschool and I will graduate highschool with my AA degree (i think I’ll have 69 credits). I have worked the past two years on average 29.5 hours a week, I have also been taking 7 to 8 college classes per semester (excluding only taking 3 per summer semester). My gpa is a 3.45 - 3.5 unweighted and a 5.4 weighted. Finally have not done so well on both the SAT and ACT ( In short i have worked my ass off to work and take a overwhelming amount of upper level classes and I want to major in AE. Now to the delema, FIT offered me 15k plus 6k in grants to attend. Also noteworthy, is I would be able to live with my grandmother’s and save 13k in housing and food. On the other hand ERAU offered me 9k,but have made it clear since FIT and them are rivals they would be willing to increase this to some what match FIT offer. Then there UCF which have offered me nothing and in general has been a headache to communicate with. Any suggestions, Criticism, or insite would be very helpful.
Work out your total Cost of Attendance at all three schools. Each one would be a solid choice for Aerospace. I may lean more towards ERAU and UCF (but that’s not based on any special insight) than FIT, but if the price is right, nothing is wrong with FIT!
Good Luck!
Thank you, my first choice is ERAU if they match FIT just a little.
FIT has a much stronger engineering program (overall) than ERAU. I don’t know how you can pass on the $13k savings!
Are you an out-of-state student? ERAU & FIT are both private and, even with the perks, will probably be twice as expensive as UCF’s in-state tuition.
ERAU REQUIRES freshmen to live in on-campus housing and (here’s the bad part) purchase the full meal plan for 2 semesters. Have you checked costs of that? FIT requires two years of the same, but living with a grandparent excepts you from requirement.
Thanks for the response, I am in state, so UCF would be significantly cheaper. But I have a brother already attending UCF and my family has not been very impressed by how they can magically extend schooling. Also UCF said I was “underqualified for the fall semester” even though they still accepted me. I agree FIT does have a overall/general better engineering program and the 13k saving would be significant. I have looked into ERAU’s meal plan cost and housing, this is why I am going to try working something out with them.
