<p>A local guy told us there were a couple of rapes last year, not necessarily at ERC. But my impression is that UCSD is probably safer than average for a large campus. Sadly, it is not like CalTech where I saw laptops and phones just sitting around unattended. One thing I did notice on admit day was that is was easy to get “lost” and end up in some fairly deserted dead ends and little used pathways between buildings. And this was on a sunny day with the place swarming with visitors. So I wonder what it’s like for a new student, say a female alone, to travel around at night between colleges.
