<p>Students can get escorts to walk with them across campus if they feel uncomfortable. You can request them for free by calling the police non-emergency number or by using one of the dozens of emergency telephones located around campus. The campus has its own police department, and student community service officers ride bikes around campus until 1:00am (maybe later?). As far as “getting lost” goes, yeah, the campus is pretty confusing for new students. But it won’t take long to get used to it… and it really isn’t as confusing as it probably seems at first. Also, it isn’t unusual for people to walk around campus alone late at night. People just don’t seem to worry about anything bad happening (and for good reason… violent crimes are extremely rare). </p>
<p>Obviously, you might want to be careful walking through a parking lot or a parking structure in the middle of the night, if you’re alone… But that’s just common sense.</p>
