Undergraduate programs usually reflect their graduate counterparts. National rankings: Carnegie 22, UCSD 35… not too big of a difference. And personally, I would prefer San Diego to Pittsburgh.

But ucsandiego915 is right - if you like Carnegie more, and the huge difference in cost doesn’t bother you, go there. You should do what you want, no regrets.

UCSD is a very safe campus that is located in a wealthy, predominantly white suburb.

UCSD is extremely safe compared to Berkeley and UCLA. Crime can happen anywhere, even in places that look affluent and peaceful.

If you don’t feel safe at UCSD, chances are you won’t feel safe anywhere else - maybe except for Irvine.

ERC is also one of the nicest parts of campus. Since it’s the newer part of campus, there aren’t a lot of trees there, and you’d probably need a bike to get to other parts of campus. It’s located at the northwest edge of the campus near Torrey Pines Road and some beautiful eucalyptus groves. You can also get an ocean view from some ERC dorms.

well actually money is a factor and i like both schools equally but in different ways…
ill probably go to UCSD because i still want to go to grad school
