Erg times

Tiger Crew Crash P's 2012 - YouTube
from Crash-P (Princeton)

Best erg times for freshmen:

Men's HW: 6.04
Men's LW: 6:23.7

Women's OW: 7:12.3
Women's LW: 7:42.0

That should shed some light on potential recruits' times.

I’m assuming this is Princeton’s own ERG race, akin to the Crash-Bs or the Mid Atlantic ERG Sprints, etc.

Thanks, yes, I agree, that gives a very good indication.

Here is a little more data . . .

A female I know with a 2k ERG time of 7:10 got into a top Ivy League program.

One with a 7:15 got into a top state school program.

That should give everyone an idea.

My daughters friend was recruited to Wisco with an 8:00
Her other friend went to Penn with not much under an 8

 HUH!? Makes no sense. I believe you were told that. But would be very odd.

Generally only athletes with a 2K of a 7:50 or lower are considered for an athletic scholarship. An athlete’s academic standing is also taken into account as well as coach-ability and work ethic. The updates you sent are a great help for me to get to know you better as an athlete. Moving forward, any coaches recommendations and/or rowing video would also be helpful.

Since official visits are paid for by the university they are by invitation only. We won’t start offering visits until this summer.

Sincerely

That is from “a coach”

Ill look for the others

I made a mistake about the Penn girl…

Sorry, I’m not following what Posts #5 and #6 mean.

And, Post # 7, thanks. I feel somewhat vindicated.

Nope, not odd, I know OW rowers on the lighter side who were ‘recruited’ (i.e. admission boost) in the ‘below’ 8 min. erg time range at midwestern universities. But keep in mind that for OW rowers, erg times are less comparable because coaches will take into account the weight. So, a 7:15 for a girl who’s 150 lbs will garner a lot more interest than a 7:05 for a rower who weighs 190 lbs (I’m making up these numbers here.) Penn does recruit OW rowers in the low 7:40s.
