erm...grades

Okay, I know that I'm pretty much a hopeless case, but I made the mistake of visiting Emory and falling in love with it.

So, here's the problem.
Up until Precal, I had a pretty strong transcript, but then I made my first and only grade below average. I know that even B grades are very poor when applying to a school like Emory, so my question is...should I even bother applying?

All responses are welcome. Even the brutally honest will get an internet embrace.
Thanks a ton!

The average GPA for incoming freshman at Emory is ~3.7. So an admitted student typically has several B's on his or her transcript. Don't worry about a couple of B's ruining your chances.

There's a lot of variables other than GPA in the college admissions process such as test scores, ECs, difficulty of courses taken, minority status, etc.

Even if you have test scores and GPA well below the average; if you really like the college, I would recommend applying anyways.

What are your test scores and GPA?

Well, my current G.P.A. is 3.7, and my ACT score is 24, but I'm going to submit my SAT scores...which won't happen until October. Honestly I'm considering waiting for Regular decision to apply. I know this will lower my chances of getting in, but I don't think my chances will be too high without my first semester of senior year on my transcript. bleh.

IMO, your GPA is actually OK. Provided you have taken at least somehwhat challenging classes, then it'd be about average. But your ACT score may be problematic because it's below the 25%. I would recommend studying intensively for the SAT. Doing so may make a big difference.
