Ernest Mario - How do my gpa and SAT compare?

Well i just got back my very first SAT score - 2030 ( 660 R, 690 M, 680 W ) and I was just wondering if it does not change (im assuming and hoping it will) what are my chances at this very moment for the school. I have a 4.1 GPA at the moment and that will probably get bigger as i get into senior year. Im also probably going to be commended for the National Merit Scholarship. Also I am probably one of the few people who actually will have pharmacy experience applying into a school (more then a year of it by that time actually). If you translate my SAT into old format its a 1350 which is well above Rutgers average scores but a tad lower then average pharmacy student SATs. (Its a 1350 if you translate directly and if you just add Math and Reading). What would you say my chances are the moment ignoring the fact that i am a junior?

I've heard of people being admitted with SAT scores in the 1300s, but to be SAFE, 1400 is recommended. Your GPA should be fine.

However, remember that about 1/4 -1/3 of the class actually makes it to graduation. Many get weeded out in the first 3 years.

While Rutgers only admits solely based on GPA and SAT, you should consider your AP Scores to be an indicator of how prepared you are for your first two years of pharmacy. If you have taken many APs and did well, then the first year will be a breeze.

One VERY critical aspect of admissions is get everything in AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE. Apply online once admissions opens up. Send your transcript and SAT scores IMMEDIATELY. It's a state school and they F up a lot so this leaves you with buffer time in case something bad happens.

Yeah im going to send it in early September probably. Im gana retake the SATs in April and hope for a 2100 (1400 on old) but even if i dont get it i feel that these scores are enough. I failed to mention that through my work experience i have become friends with a Rutgers pharmacy graduate who is friends with the Dean of Admissions family at the pharmacy college. I am not rellying on that because he is in his 70s and might retire this year, but if he does not I am almost 100% garanteed admission.

It's a state school so alumni relations has relatively little effect. I know some people who work in admissions. Rutgers generates an index score based solely on your GPA and SATI. It admits students who applied to pharmacy and have the highest index scores. It's a state school so it is a LOT harder to use personal connections as leverage. In this respect, the Dean of Admissions can't help you. However, since Rutgers is ROLLING ADMISSIONS he could somehow obtain your file and run it into the system before others do. You would then have a higher chance of being admitted.
