Can you help me decide if I should retake my SAT Math IIC?
Also, am I at a disadvantage if I apply through regular decision rather than early action?
I will be writing and entering a science research paper to competitions such as siemens and intel. Can/should I send the paper as a supplement of some sort along with a letter of recommendation from my mentor?

Thank you!

I’d retake Math II, something like 10% of students who take it get a 800. Why not you?

Whats your gpa uw? Judging from the looks of it you have good chance.

needsmorsleep: I’m just worried that my score will drop… would the admissions people look at both Sat II Math IIC scores?

rutgershopeful: out uw gpa are released once we’re seniors so that is my weighted gpa :[

No, don’t retake Math II unless you are seriously considering school other schools where they look at SAT IIs! I’m pretty sure Rutgers doesn’t even check SAT IIs, so retaking it would be a huge waste of money and time. I don’t even think my counselor sent any of my letters of recommendation.

You are looking much better than I did, so I wouldn’t worry about applying early action or regular decision. At this point, I don’t see why you wouldn’t get in.

sj0594: oh that’s good to hear
and I know a few upperclassmen who are in Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy that had GPAs that were waaaaaaaaaaaay better than mine. (the 4.15 is weighted) so is my gpa really not an issue?
also if SAT II scores and teacher recommendations aren’t really considered, is it just SAT I scores and GPA? what about the essays?

I agree with the advice to not retake the Math II test – at least you got above a 700, and Rutgers doesn’t check the SAT IIs (I had lousy scores/didn’t even bother taking the math test and still got in).

Overall, looks like you have a good shot! Your GPA looks fine to me, just keep up your current progress. Mine was around where yours was (don’t remember exactly what, but it was slightly above a 4.0 when weighted…maybe 4.25ish?), but there are also people who got in despite not having such a high GPA. Apply early, since RU is rolling admissions (so the earlier you apply, the better your chances because there are more spots).

I think that Rutgers mainly considers your SAT and GPA – at least, they did when I applied. You’re definitely fine in both areas. If it makes you feel any better, my SATs and GPA were pretty much the same as yours. Like I said, apply ASAP. Although they say that the essays aren’t required, I’d write it anyway. I included some stuff about why I was interested in pharmacy back when I wrote mine. Good luck!
