Err... did this strike anyone else?

Did anyone else find the stats cited in Wash U's Regular Decision acceptance letter a little strange?

If the university truly selected its "freshman class of approximately 1,350" from "more than 21,000 applicants," that would put its acceptance rate at approximately 6.5%... less than even Yale's, which is at 9! Incidentally, that would also make the entering class about 300 people fewer than usual, if I'm remembering those stats correctly.

I'd like to hear what you guys have to say about this. Think they're not counting Early Decision applicants, it's a typo, or what?

The class probably is 1350, but they will accept two or three times as many students in order to fill it.

they overaccept like crazy because they have a very low yield. i think they accept about 6-7000ish

It isn't 6000 it is probably under 4000, at least that was what I heard from last year.

I believe that laurenemma is correct, they accept a little under 4000, for an acceptance rate of about 18.5-19%. However, the acceptance rate for Early Decision is much higher, so the regular acceptance rate must be around 12% (or perhaps even less!)

Yeah, last year they accepted more than 4,000.

last year acceptance rate was 22/23% ish and accepted a little over 5000

wow, 4000, and i still got waitlisted, ha, how low can one go?
