Error in Amherst administration?

I am applying to Amherst from India. Prior to sending my application to Amherst, I sent my official SAT scores. Maybe that is the reason for the error that has occurred. A few days ago I received an email from Amherst saying that a Rory Higginson from Scotland has requested an email change to my email address. Now, my name is not even close to Rory Higginson and neither do I live in Scotland. Now, the confirmation email from Amherst I received today is addressed to Rory Higginson again and I have notified Amherst to this problem but they aren’t replying.

How big a dent will this make in my application reviewing chances and by how much will this increase the time taken for them to consider me? Is this a common occurrence? Has this happened to anyone before? I’m really worried

Don’t worry about this affecting your app as long as you notified them. They have several weeks of reviewing apps ahead of them. If you are in the RD pool, they don’t send out notifications until late March. This seems to have nothing to do with your SAT scores – I can’t see how it would. If you don’t hear back from them in a few days, email again (but give them a couple of days, they are super busy right now).

Yes, I did tell them…thrice now. Yeah I’m in the regular decision pool but how did they confuse me with some guy across a continent? I just wanted to know if this is solvable and if this has happened to anyone before

They confused me with someone from another continent as well. I have notified them and they sent me another two emails addressed to that person. One even had a personal home address on it. I wrote them again expressing my concern on how our personal information is being handled and they have yet to respond.

Yesss exactly the same situation here :/

I also had the same problem at my end. But an email was sent out today clarifying that it was an error which was being resolved. So don’t worry.

Yeah got the same email a 5 am, phew!
Thanks for the responses!
