Has anyone who did the ACT booklet practice test seen problem #56 about the radio transmitter station? It does not seem to have enough information to be answered.

Where could I find explanation to the answers in the booklet? Thanks in advance

There is also a blatant error in #34 in the Reading section, where the answer key claims that J is the correct answer when the passage clearly supports answer G. I am appalled at this carelessness in their official practice pamphlet.

I solved that problem
The first station has 52mi radius circle for the transmitter site and the second station has 60 mi of transmitter site. they are on the other ends of straight highway, 100mi long.
100 - 60 is 40, meaning that the second station is covering from 40mi away from the first station.
and 52 - 40 is 12.
so the answer is 12 mi, letter G.
My explanation looks bit vague.
Let me know if you need further explanation…

I just did this test I solved the radio transmitter one.

Hopefully I got that G question, and maybe my score will go up, but I doubt it.

EternalSnow, where did you get the number 52 mi? It is not mentioned anywhere in the problem. Only the 60 mi radius is mentioned.

lol, if you look at the picture on top it says 52.

I can help you out…

For the math problem, note that the 52 mile radius is mentioned in the introduction paragraph (which applies to questions 54-56). While 100, miles apart, the stations (which have a 52 mile radius and a 60 mile radius) will intersect for 12 of those miles.

For the reading question, lines 57-59 support J on question#34.

It doesn’t say that visual cortex activity was increased with exposure to high concentrations of color, it says that “resulting images showed a concentration of color” IN THE IMAGES OF THE BRAIN. They stimulated the cortex using a light, not “high concentrations of color”.

Oh, I see. Whoops, I need to be more attentive to these little details. Thanks for the explanation!

This isn’t a math problem, but can any one explain the answers to #29 and #73 in the English section? The lack of explanations in this book annoy me.

For the record, I put the following answers:

29: B

73: D

Which are both incorrect.
