I accidentally changed my school of attendance from UCI to SJSU on the FAFSA and the Cal Grant website because I thought I might be going there. Then 2 days later I got an email saying I was disqualified from Cal Grant! I changed my top school on the FAFSA back to UCI but couldn’t change it on the Cal Grant website.
I got the following message when trying to: “School Changes or Leave of Absence requests can only be made when your Cal Grant has been renewed. In the meantime, you have the option of submitting a school change or housing status change request by clicking the “Future School/Housing Change” link above. If you have any further questions, please contact the Customer Relations Branch at 1-888-224-7268 or via email by clicking the “Contact Us” link below.”
When I tried changing from the Future School Change option, I got the message: “Access to request a school and/or housing change on this screen is for students who will be renewing an existing Cal Grant award from a prior year only.”
Does anyone know if the change will go through even if the application now says “Not Awarded”? Or am I screwed and unable to attend UCI just because i made some stupid error in the form…?
