Hey CC,

So I was PWL at Tepper and I was told earlier this week that they were putting me on the regular wait list since there currently is no room at Tepper. The problem is a week ago I found out that they recorded my lower Math 2C score (700) and not my higher one (800). I called the admissions office and they corrected the mistake. My parents want to complain, however, saying that this could have affected my admission decision since my other scores were above average for Tepper and CMU (2200+ SAT, upper 700s science SATII, state and regional awards, 3.75 weighted GPA WITHOUT freshman year ) and I was not given a "fair" evaluation. Would this change anything? I told them I didnt want them making matters worse and that they couldn't just make up a spot for me even if they wanted to. Would CMU even care if my parents complained? Would it make any sort of difference or would this only make matters worse for me?

Thanks

Eh it is a bad idea. You’re right, there is nothing positive that will come out of it. They are over-enrolled as it is. At some point it comes down to person pride. I would move on. :/

Also, I was told that sat2’s really never make or break applications. They like to see north of 700, and that is it.

Best of luck

Your scores might have been above the median, but there are so many more factors than just a single SAT II score.

Tepper is currently over-enrolled, and even if the applicant pool goes down, that doesn’t mean than you’re at the top of the waitlist.

If you want to help your chances for the current waitlist, tell them that you don’t need any Financial Aid.

Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for the advice. I told my parents again that nothing positive could come out of this. I never did apply for financial aid, and I hear they are not need blind during the wait list process. I don’t think my paying full tuition will help anyway since Tepper is overenrolled and they can’t just make a spot for me.

Thanks
