ESL middle aged parent need help on "twilight"

Can anyone tell me what's going on?
I am sure I can research and find answers somewhere else but just want to get over with it ASAP if i could. thanks.
1. is it Ok to give this book for very mature 6th grader or is it too sexy or scary?
2. Why no kid in it has ipod nor cell phone? texting, facebook nothing? when is this story taking place, 70s, 80s, couldn't be now, is it?
3. Why bella has only one jacket on her back that when she left that in her friend's car, she had nothing to wear? Is it normal for HS kid with parent that has OK income ?
4. Why no seventeen year old is bothered by college, SATs ACT or EC, volunteer, job, anything but dating, dance and cars?
In rest of the ( non CC) world seniors all go home right after school just like that? So far only college name barely mentioned was one state school that Jacob's sister got scholarship to.
5. How could bella possibly believe that edward is a vampire from only given reasons?
6. Is it OK to drink coke while eating mushroom ravioli at italian restaurant? bella drinks soda, mostly coke all the time, is it normal?
7. What's wrong with me that I read half way, like 200 pages until finally stop, holt and came to senses ?

bump.
I got some answer from parents but what do you kids think of that? can you relate to the kind of life, or is it similar to your town/ HS/ friends/what you do minus vampire?
who read this and why?

Umm…

I’m sorry, but Twilight is easily in the discussion for “Worst book of all time”. It caters to those with an attention span shorter than that of a mouse; those who need constant action and care very little for plot and character development. I understand that it is a fiction book, but the sheer outlandishness immediately disqualifies it from even a remote level of decency as literature.

It’s like a mashed-up bag of thoughts from the mind of Glenn Beck as a teenage girl. That’s how bad it is.

I wouldn’t give it to anyone, let alone poison my mind by reading it myself.

thanx. i just read few amazon review, this 12 year old (if that’s true) summed up what i needed to know.
but you know, like davinci code, that’s what regular people read, is what scary-er thing than vampires.

I guess someone here hasn’t read Moby Dick.

^
Or Hemmingway. Or Grapes of Wrath.

Those books are completely opposites. Filled with meaning and character development, but insanely boring. They’re in the discussion, people won’t ever agree on the worst book.

Hemmingway is boring? I’m no Hemmingway expert, but I have read Farwell to Arms, Fiesta (The Sun also Rises), and the Old Man and the Sea. Out of these, the first two were definitely not boring and had quite a bit of action. Old Man, however, I found was extremely dull.

Yeah I’ve only read Old Man and the Sea, and it was pretty interesting. Billy Budd was like having part of my cerebellum pulled out, and Grapes of Wrath made me want to shoot Ma Jode.

Farewell to Arms was TERRIBLE. I spent more time falling asleep reading that book during the day, or looking away wishing that I had something else to read, than actually reading it.

Speaking of boring authors, the Scarlet Letter was horrible. I mean, I guess it has psychological development or whatever but seriously, how hard is it for the average person to imagine that a minister who is secretly an adulterer is going to feel guilty and that the husband of the adulteress woman is going to be pretty pi$$ed? I could have figured that out myself. I don’t get what’s so exceptional about the book except for it being exceptionally boring.

Meyer has inspired me to start my own teenage romance fiction.

If she can do it, I can do it, too.

[Twilight Saga Wiki - Edward Cullen, New Moon Movie, Volturi](Twilight Saga Wiki | Fandom)

Everything you need to know about Twilight. I have never read the book, but have read some of those pages. I am now able to discuss twilight with people who…discuss twilight (?!@!!!)

"What’s wrong with me that I read half way, like 200 pages until finally stop, holt and came to senses ? "

obviously a ■■■■■ trying to be funny
