ESL student Critical Reading score.

I am an ESL (English as a Second Language) student who migrated to the USA from the Philippines 5 years ago. My Critical Reading is only a mere 660.

Do you think colleges would take my background into consideration?

I think they will. I’m a native speaker and my CR is only 680. That’s WELL above the average American, so good for you!

I agree. I am born and raised in America, and when I took the SAT, my CR score was 680 as well. And I got into Berkeley  So your score should be fine. Though, if this is only your first or second time taking the test, I would recommend giving it one more try, people usually improve on the 2nd or 3rd attempt (but don’t take the SAT’s more than three times, it usually doesn’t help at that point.)

I’m from Israel… could barely read English 4 years ago.

790.

Thanks for making me feel inferior.

I’ve never been to America and have never communicated with native speakers and still got 680 with 3-month preparation. As NYSP2010 mentioned you should definetely try to raise your score if you feel there’s still room for improvement.
