<p>It is upsetting that a tutor believes that a 5 paragraph essay is the only way for success. It may be easier to teach if you have this set format, but the 4 paragraph essay is arguably better since it involves more body paragraph development. As a tutor myself, I recommend 4 paragraph essays with the disclaimer that it's more difficult to get good at 4 paragraph essays.</p>
