Essay about a pet??

Okay, so my cat has really inspired me to do some great things for the environment. Not simply for my cat, but for what I believe is all of "innocence," or the inhuman world. I feel I can write about this rather passionately, because I have done quite a few major things to improve my community for the better in terms of the environment, and I'd like to portray my driving forces behind it, as well as my drive for most things. My only worry is it'll seem cheesy or feel kind of strange to admissions officers. What do you think?

A second thing, if you don't think I should write the one about my pet: I want to write an essay about a fashion show I planned, but my recommendation writer may touch on it, and it'll be listed as an extracurricular activity in my common app. Thus, it may feel repetitive, and I hear all the time from admissions officers that they want to hear something they don't know about me.

So, thoughts?

well…

I don’t think mentioning your cat is a bad idea. It all depends on HOW you show it, how you write it.

Alot of people elaborate on their ECs for their essay, thats prolly what i’m doing.

How would be a bad way to write about my cat?

“My cat is my role model” depending on the reader, itll come off as blatantly stupid, or hilarious XD

haha yeah, okay.

i LOVE it!
i think it really stands out- which is a good thing!
it’s unique. And if well written (and i mean WELL written), and in a not-too-cheesy, but rather down-to-earth-honest style… then it could be really, very good.
so yes.
i think you should go for it.
but also, i guess it depends on what you wanna major in/ college you wanna go to. i don’t know if this actually makes a difference, but you should consider it none the less.

Yeah, good advice, thanks! I’m not sure yet actually haha

My cat is my inspiration?
You can’t pick some notable figure in the world or in your personal life? Your cat would, IMO, need to be some sort of high achiever- eg, 80 hours of cuddly love at a nursing home and how, without that, you wouldn’t have realized… Or, profoundly disabled and the caring for it taught you something. Etc.
Not cheesy, jusy waaay too innocent an idea. You need a teacher or advisor to help sort this through. Sorry.

It’s not the cuddling. I know how to not make it innocent. Thanks :]
