I would like to write my essay about a two-week homestay program I went on to Spain in April of last school year (my junior year- I am now a senior). This experience was truly important to me and I place a lot of value on it in my everyday life; I would not just be playing it up in an essay. However, I am well aware that an essay about travel is cliche and bores admissions officers. How risky do you think it would be to write an essay about my travel experience? Do you think I might be able to make it work, or do you think I should stay away from that topic no matter what? Do admissions officers always find travel to be a boring subject, without fail? More importantly, is there a certain way of writing it that they hate in particular?

Unfortunately, I don't have anything else to write about; this is the extent of my personal interests/personality. I would like to salvage the idea, if at all possible. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
