I know that many colleges ask for some type of personal essay. I am wondering if I should craft my essay so that it shows the amount of passion I have for my major--or if I should focus on something completely different.

I am leaning towards writing an interesting essay involving my major (film), so that the person who reads my application will see how serious I am about it. But I'm not sure whether I should do this.

Go for it! I don't see why not. Some schools (such as the UC system) even specifically ask for the reasons you are pursuing your particular major and what preparation you have had for it.

What school are you applying to?

cool confetti tea! i'm a film major too! where are you attempting transfer to? it's brown for me!

hey, thank you two :) i'm still sifting through the schools i will apply to -- but i will definitely be applying to a number of ivy leage universities (my parents don't want me to transfer unless it's to a school better than my current one: Tufts).

pinkearmuffs-- I'm pretty sure brown doesn't have a straight film major. They have modern media studies or something like that, right?
