I’m a little worried that BC only has 1 essay … that obviously means that the essay has to be flawless. So I am wondering–an essay about something I am passionate about or about my future goal and how BC is the best place for me? It’s just that there’s not alot on my app that really explains why I want to be a pharmacist; most of my ec’s are not science-related and my essay was going to be about planes and history I have the 2 essays already written, please help me figure out which is best to send!

If you want to be a pharmacist, then BC might not be the right school. It doesn't have a pharm program, and from my limited understanding of the program it's six years and requires a lot of specific courses plus internship at pharmacy. I think you might looking at schools like Northeastern and MCPHS.

About the essay, pick the one that tells the most about you and your personality rather than "I like to attend BC because..." BC is not an expressed interest school meaning it does not factor in how much you like BC or how great a fit it would be for you.

bc doesnt have any essays....they only look at the one on the common app that all schools will see. do not make this essay BC specific, all the other schools will look at it and say to themselves "why are they applying to my school...?"

well, you can always send the common app separately to each school, so I don't think that will have an effect.

Don't let the fact that just a school doesn't have a pharmacy program doesn't mean that it cannot prepare you. You go to an undergraduate institution to fulfill prerequisite courses in the most challenging environment possible; BC is a fine place to do this.

I applied as a chem major and wrote about my experiences with science...i don't think it showed much about me other than the fact that i really like science.

My (Common App) essay was about the definition as an "actor" (because of my history in theatre) as a person who supports his community, not a "player" in a theatrical production. I think it came out okay, but the lack of anecdotal connections to my life, in retrospect, was a poor editing choice.

Edit: BC, being a Jesuit institution and one that places emphasis on helping others, etc., might not mind that your essay isn't about academics: if you have good grades, good SATs, and your essay is about academics, you may appear to lack depth. I'm not an admissions counselor, but it seems to me that while you might mention academics tangentially, you don't need to write your entire essay about it.

It may look good...or they may know that you just edited your Georgetown essay that you needed for Georgetown College.
