Essay Advice

<p>I am planning on applying to UCs and the same prompt applies to all the UCs so I am planning on writing one very solid essay. I am not the most creative person or the best writer, but I am planning on writing about a teacher who inspired me and it is genuine and I think I can write a very good essay with it. However, I recently read that colleges do not like it when people write about generic things like teacher or parents. I am wondering if it is worth writing about then? Again I think I could write a great essay about it but I don't know if I should if colleges do not really like those kinds of essay. </p>

<p>Did you read the UC prompts yet? They want a larger picture of your world in the first one. And the second one is specific. So this topic doesn’t really fit for the UC prompts. You could work it into the first one though it does sound a little cliché, it will be fine if your personalize it.</p>

<p>Personally, the best way to write an college essay is just be you! Find something you’re passionate about and it’ll be easy to write it because it’s coming from your heart! Don’t try to please the admissions counselor or overthink it. That’ll just make your essay sound like crap.</p>
