You would think these essays wouldn’t be a problem to write because of the length, but I’m really struggling. I’ve already written the “what excites you about Notre Dame”, but it sounds so generic. I don’t know how i can connect it to myself. Any advice? I would appreciate it!
Hi! If you havent finished yet, you can shoot me a message and I can give you some advice and read them over. I had the same problem initially but there are things you can do to make it very specific yet thurough in just 200 words.
Thank you for your reply! Im still changing some last minute things but i will let you know if i need any extra help! Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it!
Find something about Notre Dame that really excites you - a club or activity, a major, a study abroad program. The key words for Notre Dame, I think, are family, community, academic opportunity and the opportunity to make a difference in the world. They are looking for students who have a passion to make the world a better place. That idea, even if you don’t know how you will do that, is what I think the reps are looking for. Ask yourself - why would going to Notre Dame be important to me vs going to another school. One of my kids incorporated the sculptures on campus, one talked about how he watched the students sing the Alma Mater together with the team after a miserable loss in the snow and frigid temps. Even if you haven’t visited campus, find something about the school that excites you and write about that!
First, thank you for your response! I read i incorporated the “engaged learning” values from the center for social concerns. Youre right about the key words because i read the mission statement and the university definitely emphasizes those values. Thank you for your response!
Imo there’re no “key words” or “magic formulas”
no i know but i think “key word” just signifies what the university emphasizes, upholds, and looks for in students. im not trying to fit a formula. im trying not to write a generic essay
