<p>So basically, I've written my common app essay about my jump rope coach and her influence on me. But, I completely forgot about the "elaborate on an extracurricular" portion when I did this. Would it be bad to write my extracurricular short essay about jump rope as well? I've been doing it for eleven years so it's a big deal to me, but I don't want to seem on sided or anything. Any thought?</p>

<p>I have the same problem, but I asked a teacher at my school who has been teaching a college essay writing class for years and he said that the 2 essays should be on two different topics even if they focus on different aspects of the same activity. So now I have to rewrite my short essay.</p>
<p>Really? I’m kind of looking to perhaps change one essay slightly to make it work but still keep it jump rope related. Like, right now, my common app essay completely about the coach and I only really mention jump rope to tell what she coaches. I suppose I could write about a different EC…but I’d much prefer not to</p>
