So i just applied to KU regular admissions (no honors college or scholarships) and I was wondering if it will really make a huge difference if I send a resume and a personal statement? My stats are above the requirements for out-of-state applicants.

KU admissions (like many large publics) is based on the numbers, they don’t look at essays and resumes. If you meet the requirements, you will be admitted! My S is also OOS and heard back very quickly (email first then snail mail packet) 2 years ago. I don’t know if you saw this, but if you send your test scores ahead and meet the requirements, you can be admitted within 48 hours. My S literally got his congrats email 36 hours after hitting the submit button. Good luck and let us know when you hear back. My S just loves KU!

I wouldn’t send one in. The chances of them reading it are fairly slim. I would, however, suggest doing the scholarship essay on the application. Even if you don’t need the scholarship, it looks good to have it. I got my GED, and I firmly believe part of the reason I was accepted was because of my essay.

In fact, do any essay they ask for, even if it isn’t required. But don’t send in your own resume and letter, because it won’t get read.
