essay and specific activity section

Hi,

If we write about a significant activity on my essay AND write about the the same activity on the "specific activity" section, would that be being redundunt? Is it better to write about different activity to show different side of me?

I don't repeat it word to word, but that just happened to be the case because the activity was important to me. On my essay I do it in a prose form, but on the specific activity section I state it in more directly.

I appreciate any well-meaning advice.
Thank you =)

That would probably be redundant, unless it isn’t. Do you think you’re saying completely separate things in each? If so, that might be ok, but probably not. (You can do the different activity for the short one, and elaborate on the long one in the big essay.)

I would definitely suggest writing about the significant activity on your essay, and write about a different activity for the short answer. After all, would Harvard really learn anything else about you?

Remember: your application should sell you. By writing about the same activity twice, you’re forfeiting an opportunity to sell yourself. It also might come off like you’re lacking things to write about, while most applicants probably have too many things to write about.

But I suppose it could be done if the two essays are drastically different in style and substance.

Thanks all of you!
