what are some essay contests that are pretigious or semi prestigious (like the scholastic arts award) that i can do (that will look good on college apps)?

I second this question.

Uhhh the local PTSA Reflections contest?

Remember that essay contests worth near anything are notoriously hard to win, as every high schooler within the top something percent in their school think that they are the best writer since William Shakesphere. I'd rather concentrate on the local essay contests with the cute 100 dollar awards and see how you do from there.

I won first place nationals for the scholastic writing contest.
i want to do something similiar or a little bit more prestigious.
Anything is possible.

Then use your skills to earn some scholarships. Even that will look good/prestigious.

I already am. I just wanted to try out essay contests.

how about the ayn rand foundation contest? not sure of the exact site, but you should be able to google it in a few seconds

I heard that Ayn Rand's contest is filled with students who have their english professor parents write it for them, and they dont check to see if this is done or not...

echelon31---that's horrible! what kind of contest lets cheaters win? ugh, then i am def. not entering.

rly? wow! that's terrible. i think that has a large monetary prize also..

does anyone know anymore essays?
It can even be scholarship essays...
