For essay #5 (where you write your own question and respond to it)...it says to talk about why you think this essay represents you well

Should this description be included in the essay or in a separate paragraph?

If it is supposed to be in a separate paragraph, is it included in the word count??

-thanks!

I’m not sure. I’d say email the office of undergraduate admissions, but they won’t respond until Monday at the earliest, meaning you would miss the priority deadline.

My best recommendation would be to choose a different question to respond to, but maybe somebody else will be able to answer your question.

I’m pretty sure they mean that the point of the essay is to describe why your topic suits you well. So this way they have control over the overall direction of the essay, while still allowing you the freedom of writing your own topic. That’s how I did mine at any rate.

I believe that when D did it, she typed the question she was answering (the write-your-own question) at the top. Then she had the essay…she did not include the question in the word count. The essay itself should give the answer of why the essay represents you, as part of the text of the essay.
