<p>Most people say to write about the passion you have toward you EC's, would it hurt to write on a tangent from that? </p>
<p>This one friend wrote about "frogs" in his essay for NYU, he got accepted.</p>
<p>Can you virtually write anything on your essay, and still make it appeal to the admissions committee, or do you have to write filled with passion toward something?</p>
<p>Seconded. It could definitely be something that has a tangential connection, or none at all, to anything else on your application / resume, as long as it’s personal and well-written.</p>
