for the essay, how many examples do you guys tend to use? PR says to use 3. Some say 2 is good. some say to include counterpoint of view to support your arguement. What do you usually use?

I use 3. I stick to the five-paragraph format (intro, 1, 2, 3, end).

I normally use either one historical or one literary example, and develop it into a 5 paragraph essay. The SAT graders seem to be flexible with the structure of the body paragraphs. On the November test, I used Hesse's Siddhartha as my example, and didn't really divide my essay into distinctive paragraphs. Instead, I just started a new paragraph whenever I felt like I had an adequate length for the previous paragraph. Even with this, I was able to score a 12 on the essay portion.

I used the 5-paragraph method and made my thesis, topic sentences, and conclusion evident.

Tip: Make up stuff if you're at a loss.

hey topboy, for your 12 essay, what kind of diction did you use? really those formal and scholarly one or just normal ones you use for writing stuff like diary?
