<p>I would actually think tying them together would create a stronger profile, assuming you have a limited amount of EC’s. If you do 6-7 different things, then pick one. But if you do only 2-3 important EC’s, by all means tie them ALL TOGETHER. This would show a CONCENTRATED PASSION to colleges.</p>
<p>I have a bunch of ECs, but they’re all in one of 2 areas- journalism or volunteer work-with the exception of a few random ones.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t focus your Common App essay on any EC (one or multiple). Write instead about a specific moment or experiment and let mentions of your ECs come in naturally.</p>
