Essay for USF ?

Please explain the essay process and if anyone could post a sample essay ?
The instruction for the essay are somewhat confusing. Thanks

I don’t think USF wants freshmen applicants submitting essays. The application form attached below doesn’t say anything about essays. Where did you see USF wants an essay? Unless it is some new requirement, I don’t think they want you sending them an essay. In past few years if an applicant decision was deferred USF might then encourage applicant to submit an essay and maybe some references, but not with the initial application. http://usfweb2.usf.edu/Admissions/pdf/usfappl.pdf

During the online application process under My Essay;

“You may submit an essay relating to your activities, work experiences, and any honors or awards you have relieved. Although an essay is not required for admission purposes, any supplemental materials submitted will be holistically reviewed. If you upload your essay, be sure to include your name and address at the top of your essay. Please keep your essay to a maximum of four hundred ( 400 ) words”.

Then there is an area to upload your essay on their web site.
Thu an essay is apparently expected.

It says you have the option to put one, so its not a requirement lol I pretty much put how I support my school and community through those activities, what I did, why I did them, etc…id let you read it but I already submitted it sorry

I guess things have changed since I applied to USF 4 years ago; when I applied USF didn’t want an essay nor letters of recommendation submitted. Follow the instructions in USF’s online application regarding essay. Don’t delay getting application in early fretting about doing a short essay; get it done, and get it in for your best shot at acceptance. USF will be starting decision notifications the first week of October.

Thanks-
Does A N Y O N E has a sample essay they submitted for
the USF application web site that I can view ?
I sincerely appreciate any help !

THANKS------

An essay is optional, not required. That’s why the instructions indicate that you “may” submit one. :)

Thank You !

Although the essay is optional, I was hoping if anyone who had previously submitted their optional essay for this years application to USF would post theirs
so that I may gauge on how to help my sister write one.
Thanks
