I'm applying to the Walsh School of Foreign Service, and the essay prompt is to talk about a global issue and what you think should be done about it. I'm interested in Middle Eastern Studies so some of the topics I'm considering could be a bit controversial and I don't know if that would be the best choice. I've heard not to get overly political in admissions essays, though this essay seems to be calling for political opinion. So do you think it would be ok to write an essay that doesn't exactly fall in line with mainstream American opinion?
