When my D submitted her app a few weeks ago, she cut and pasted her personal statement and Why Tulane essay from word rather than just downloading it. When she downloaded it and then went to check it, it gave an error message so she cut and pasted it instead. The problem now is that if you preview her app it removed all the paragraphs and made both essays just one long paragraph. I'm not sure why it did this. On the screen before she hit submit it looked fine. Should she email her rep and attach the essays or not worry about it? She doesn't want them to think she wrote it that way!

They know there are formatting problems when cutting and pasting. They have seen it many times. I would still e-mail the Word versions as attachments to her personal admissions officer, not to the general admissions e-mail, with a brief note saying she had tried to download it but got an error message and therefore pasted it in. Now seeing that it did not format correctly, she is sending the formatted version. She probably shouldn’t make any other changes though.

Thanks, FC. She will e-mail the original versions…without any changes :)

I had the same worry and emailed my admissions officer. She said that’s just the way it is when you preview the completed app, and that it is formatted the way you intended when you sent it. I see you’ve taken care of it, but just passing this info along!

Thanks KDTU13. I don’t think she sent them yet. I’ll let her know when she gets home and she can decide what she wants to do…might be good excuse to touch base with rep?!
