I need someone's advice on what to write for an essay. I'm thinking about writing about my love for animals and the environment, incorporating my trip to Costa Rica. But I want to include some of my academic side as well. What I'm getting is the question of whether colleges like to see you talk about your academic side or it does it really matter. Thanks to anyone who responds.

I don’t have much experience in this matter as a rising sophomore in high school, but I’ve heard that college essays should not be written about something that could be found on your application. So unless you have a learning disability or something along the lines, then perhaps it would be best to not write about your academic life.

Your transcript will aptly depict your academic ability. The essay is supposed to show your personality and who you are. Just write about what you feel passionate about.
