<p>I was struggling with my previous common app essay topic and found a different idea.</p>
<p>When I was learning language, my sister had just entered preschool and my parents focused on speaking English at home instead of our native languages. As such, I never learned to speak any of our native languages which has, at times, disconnected me from our culture.</p>
<p>I would like to discuss the difficulties this has led me to face and how this has made me a product of both American and Indian culture. Would this be too cliched?</p>
