ASSIGNMENT: Are people better off if they do not listen to criticism?

Criticisms are often deemed by individuals as non-preferable. It is a disposition of mankind to evade even the least trenchant criticisms, because criticisms always involve marring the ego embedded deep inside ones' hearts. Even the most disinterested ones are deemed as somewhat character assassination because it is always inclined to attack the individuals being criticized. Perhaps, people are psychologically reclusive from the external criticisms in nature. Nonetheless, I doubt that individuals will be better off if they do not listen to criticisms. It is embodied in pragmatic perspectives.

People live in society and do not live isolated life like troglodytes today. They exist as some relationships and positions in a group. Criticisms are mostly likely due to the incongruity or even clashes of different values between the critics and the 'victims'. For instance, the abolitionist movement in the USA in the mid-19th century was a consequence of clash between freedom and equality, which is repetitively accentuated in the Declaration of Independence, and the slave trade at the moment. The vested interest groups like the slave holders in the South were criticized by many as immoral. They did not attempt any changes or reformation of the status quo, and finally spawned the 1860s Civil War. The slave owners were seemingly better-off by disregarding criticisms, but eventually the calamities were even more 'harmful'. Refusal to accept criticisms was to ignore the links in society which would lead to even more catastrophic aftermath.

The Middle Age movement of Copernicus and Galileo was also an epitome of refusing criticisms. The fame of the Church deteriorated because of exacerbating cleptocracy and burning scientists. They have lost their secular influences day by day because of their insusceptibility to criticisms.

Criticism is the pillar of modern civilization, as it helps the refurbishment of vitalization of it. Civilization is the assemblage of mankind. Refusal to criticisms leads to unpreferable effects to individuals because it is not preferable to the group, the felicity of mankind.

Second example needs to be elaborated more on. Extremely short.

And you needed a stronger conclusion.

Nice structure, sentence variation, and vocabulary though.

Actually, vocab is stilted and even obfuscatory at times.

too short, I also get a 10 mark essay and my essay is filled fully with 2 pages :), I think I get 10 because I dont have enough time to write the conclusion :)), damn it!
