essay length

if the recommended length of the college essay for the University of Washington is 500-650 words, is it really bad if my essay is 850 words? should i start cutting stuff out?

i just started writing it today and i kind of just kept going and going....

by the way its due tomorrow

so, is going over the limit bad even though it says it's just a recommendation?

also, the "additional comments" section.....it says its optional and i don't really have anything else i want to say, but would it be better to just write something/anything i can think of? or do they only want things that are really significant?

Two hundred words over the limit sounds like you're going overboard. I would say try to go no more than 750.
