Then, for the long essay, it says:

Please write an essay, approximately 500-700 words (typically one page) in length on one of following topics."

Do they want one page, double-spaced, with 500-700 words? I don't see how that is possible. One page double-spaced is generally 250-300 words. I've written an essay of about 650 words, so should I submit it single-spaced on one page, or double-spaced on two?

Also, do they want the activity summary to be double-spaced? They don't seem to ask for very much detail, so should I just have a comma-separated list like: Activity 1, Activity 2, Activity 3 (and explanation if its not obvious what it is), or should I include information like the hours, weeks, years I participated.

I'd double space when in doubt.

And I don't think hours and weeks are that important, unless they are truly extraordinary, but years are good.
