Essay Length?

Hey everyone,
I'm about to submit my RD app...but my essay is about 700 words. too long?
sorry if this is a rehash of an old topic.

Same problem here. The application just states to "limit yourself to the space provided." That basically means nothing, considering that people cna write as small as possible to fit a lengthy essay....

The way I see it is, if you want to write more, then you better make sure it's interesting. The worst thing is having to read a long and boring essay, but it's good, then no one will notice the difference between 550 words and 650 words.

if you are writting more then make sure your essay is consice and doesn't contain any unnessisary things. mine was about 750 words when I sent it.

Mine was 948 words ... wow.

Ha. My essay was something like 1,900 words, and I was accepted ED. I had everyone I knew as well as a couple of english teachers read it, and they all said that it was lengthy but not boring or repetitive. So don't stress out about being too long...I think it's ok to have alot to say, just so long as you really have something to say. As Miles Davis once said, "If you ain't got **** to say don't say ****."

thanks everyone

hey yea sorry if this is too late but my essay was around 1,500 words...my English teacher read it and agreed when I said I really just couldn't cut it down...there was alot to say!
but yep I got in ED

the point is don't stress over number of words, but do keep in mind that the essay should be consice and to the point. do edit many many times until you cant possibly cut down anymore.
