My essay is just shy of 1100 words, its for a school that doesn't require an essay and no where could I find where it would even be accepted, but when I visited the admissions office they said that I could submit one if I wished. Is that too long? If so, whats the maximum length (in words) thats recommended? I wasn't sure if it was or not because I dont imagine that they read a lot of essays. Thanks in advance.

a typical college essay should be less than half that (500 words), but really the realistic capper should be placed around 800 words. However, try to get around 500 wrd mark as best as you can.

Yeah.... no one in their right mind would read a 1100 word essay. Thats like a five page double spaced paper, if not more. While it really isnt that much, no one, and especially a school that doesnt even require an essay, wil read that.

Try to cut it down to 650 max if you ask me, about 50 words more than the UC essay. But it needs to be cut down by a very minimum, and I stress the word minimum, 1/3 of what it currently is.
