<p>the brown website says -limit of 5000 charcters(800 words)-does this mean they expect something in that range?</p>

<p>It doesn't really depend on what CommonApp says on the website. Some universities don't mind people exceeding whereas some do. Yale, for example, states that they don't appreciate it when people cross the word limit(500 words).</p>
