"250-500 words (or 1-2 pages)"

would 900 words in under 2 pages be acceptable?

Mine is 944 words.
Don't worry about it.

sweet thanks

No, it's not acceptable at all unless your essay is phenomenal. You're almost double the upper page limit. 1-2 pages is a guideline, not an excuse to use a 6 pica font and quarter-inch margins.

+1. A few words over is fine but 900 is way over the limit. Try to stick to the criteria to avoid adcom looking at you negatively right off the bat.

I included the 900-word version, since I think it's a lot better and technically fulfills what they listed as a 2-page limit.

My essay was over 700 and it was about 1 1/2 pages. (I cut it down from 850 words)

691 words, but reads fast lol

the 1-2 pages is a guideline for handwriting. I can use font 8 and have 2000 words in 2 pages.

Mine is 640 words, I believe, and it flows very well.

It's a bit late to be nitpicky about essay lengths. Submit what you have, or make some quick cuts if you can. You don't want to end up waiting to submit your application until 11:00. Lots of people missed Brown's deadline last night due to procrastination and technical difficulties.
