Essay Length

Hey,

I'm using the Princeton App and it asks for two essays - one should be 500 words long and the other 300. However, I've written two essays for Princeton and both are between 500 and 600 words. Do you think Princeton will mind if I submit these two? I really don't want to cut them down because the essence of the essays will be lost. I'm sure a little over 500 is okay for the 500 word one.. but what about the 300 word one? Should I just use the Common App instead, where I can submit two 500 word essays?

Thanks in advance!

Definitely not a 600 word answer for the 300 word one. IMO your admissions rep would get really annoyed at seeing that.

Shave it down. You can even send it over to met if you'd like.

Agreed. If they ASK for 300 words, then anything over about 350 is really pushing it. I would absolutely advise against sending one of the 500-600 words as your 300 word essay.

Thank you. I'll work on cutting it down..
