Essay Lengths/Spacing

Are you supposed to double-space essays for college. Right now my common app essay is 616 words, which for me is almost two spaces. However on these forums ppl are saying they've got like 800+ onto one page. This means they are only single spacing? Is it better to single space when you turn it in? I always double space all my essays and documents? Thanks. (Oh by the way, just double-checking, do you think 616 is all right for length)

I'm wondering this too, are we supposed to double space in every essay???

yo yo yo el bumpo

I am not 100% sure on this but, finishing up my essays they are much easier to read double spaced. I would think that the Adcom would be able to read it better as well, and i want them to read every word.

The sample essays I've seen are all single spaced.
And our teachers are telling us to single space ours too.

so technically, we should single space? cus if so, that frees up a lot of room.

You can always compromise and do 1.5 spacing....actually sometimes if I don't even have room for that, I 1.3 space things.

I've heard that colleges usually want them single spaced unless they specify they want them double spaced.

I would double space; besides, most of them give a word requirement rather than page, if not both.
