I'm about to submit my Penn app, but having second thoughts about my essay. I feel like I was a little too straight forward in explaining my interest in Penn, activities, and "background." I have a few creative tid bits but it might be too subtle. Do I need creative prose to get in? Also, is a title necessary for the supplements? I titled my common app essay, but is one necessary for the supplement essays?

My biggest weakness is my standardized test scores, so I really need some killer essays . . . ahhggnhghh

I think personally straight-forward can be great if done clearly and concisely. Obviously, flowery language without much substance is kind of meaningless.

specially for an essay as simple and straightforward as the Penn supplement essay (or any other ‘Why?’ essays for that matter, flowery and verbose/flowery etc. essays can rather have a negative impact.
