Can we use mechanical pencil for essay section? I hate writing with pencil, and I write much faster with mechanical pencil than with a normal one.

You shouldn’t…If the Proctor catches you having an “unfair advantage”, then you can get your test ripped up, chewed up, and crapped out.

I wouldn’t risk it.

I doubt it matters as long as its #2 lead. Most proctors (not all) don’t care if you use a mechanical pencil. I’ve used one for an SAT, 3 SAT IIs, and 2 ACTs and only once did a proctor give me a hard time about it (I still ended up using it anyway). I think its just a precaution against cheating since it’s possible to devise a method of communication by clicking the pencil repeatedly. I’ve also seen mechanical pencils with built in roll-up sheets that you can write on, as well as ones that supposedly can scan a sheet and upload the image onto a computer.

i think its always good to be on the safe side

Oh, I’ve seen the thing uploading things, but never heard of a pencil one…Interesting
