Hello,
I found a mistake in one of my essays, should I contact the admission office and let them know and explain it?

Depends. Is this a small typo or did you reference the wrong university in your essay?

if the mistake is pretty bad then yes, or at least you can say you used the wrong essay and write up a new one.

Im pretty sure its not as bad as another person here who used sent in the wrong college name in his essay lol

Well
I intended to write- Johnson County Community College or JCCC (I used both of them in my essay), but instead I wrote- Johnson…

How bad?

Is that the college you are transferring from? If so, not a bad mistake.

Frankly, I have even heard many admissions officers say that mentioning the wrong college’s name in your essay is not a big deal. They know that kids are applying to several schools, that Word Processors are used, that some essays are usable at more than one school with a few changes and that mistakes happen.

AdmissionsDaniel on the JHU forum even joked once that calling JHU by some other name is fine as long as you don’t call it John Hopkins (insider joke, as it is correctly Johns Hopkins and they just hate hate hate it when people make that particular mistake).

Also, think of it this way… if you wrote WashU in your essay when you meant to say Cornell, do you really want to draw attention to it now by contacting the Admissions Office?

I was referring to my current college, not the one that I’m applying to.
Thank you for your reply…;-)

lol…I dont want any attention…

This is not a bad mistake. My opinion is that you do not need to worry about it. It’s like a typo.
