<p>I don't know the questions you're referencing, but, like PrestoHC said earlier, it's more about substance than following "guidelines". If you want to use it as a "jumping off point", just make sure your reasoning is clear. Creativity is always appealing and may distinguish your essay from others.</p>

<p>For example, a bunch of my friends and I in freshman Organic Chem wrote our lab reports in the style of different literary figures... my all time favorite lab was the one I wrote titled "Of Mice and Michaelis-Menten Reactions" in the prose of Steinbeck.</p>
