For the Common App essay is it bad to choose "topic of your choice" and submit like an English paper you did?? Do they look down on this..... I am thinking of submitting an essay about "What is Literature?" And if I do this, should I include a prompt at the top??? Thanks to all

Anybody???

I don’t really know, but does the paper reveal anything about you? I would think that the essay should try and reveal something that is not seen elsewhere in the application. Not that your lit paper is somewhere else in the app, just that an english paper may sound a little bland. I could always read it if you want.

Sheep thanks a lot… Here I’ll type up a quick anecdote about myself, which i agree will be better and then I will send it to you. I still have all of my essays to write, haha… But PM me your e-mail address and I will upload it in word when I am finished. Thanks

They want the essays to reveal something about your personal qualities so they can get to know you. I wouldn’t recommend submitting an already written essay about literature. It makes it seem like you’re too lazy to write a new essay.
